Crypto Profit / Loss Calculator

If you hold digital assets or cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, Polkadot, Shiba Inu, Litecoin, or Dogecoin, you can use this calculator to work out the profits or losses attached to your investment.

How to Use the Calculator

1. Fill in the 'Crypto' field. Here, you can browse the cryptocurrency list and select the appropriate entry (e.g. ETH or BTC) or manually input the name of the digital asset you have invested in. However, as the calculation of your profits or losses is determined by the prices at which you bought and sold your cryptocurrency, you can skip this step if you wish.
2. Fill in the 'Investment Amount' field. Here, you need to input the total (gross) amount that you invested in the relevant cryptocurrency.
3. Fill in the 'Investment Fee' field. Input the fee that you paid when you bought your cryptocurrency if any such fee was charged. This will typically have been described as a transaction fee that is charged by the platform through which you purchased your cryptocurrency.
4. Fill in the 'Buy Price' field. This is where you input the price you paid for your cryptocurrency.
5. Fill in the 'Sell Price' field. Here, input the price that you sold your cryptocurrency for or, if you are still deciding whether to sell, the current sale price for the relevant cryptocurrency.
6. Fill in the 'Exit Fee' field. Input the fee that the platform you sold (or will sell) your cryptocurrency on charged you to exit your investment (i.e. sell your cryptocurrency).

Once the above information has been entered, your profits or losses will be calculated and will appear in the Profit/Loss section.

Crypto P&L Formula

This calculator uses the following formulas to estimate your potential profits/losses:

Profit/Loss Amount = (Investment Amount ÷ Buy Price) × (Sell Price − Buy Price) − Total Investment Fee − Total Exit Fee

Total Investment Fee = (Investment Amount) × (Investment Fee %) ÷ 100

Total Exit Fee = (Investment Amount ÷ Buy Price) × (Sell Price) × (Exit Fee %) ÷ 100

Total Investment Amount = Investment Amount + Total Investment Fee

Total Exit Amount = Total Investment Amount + Profit/Loss Amount
