Spring Calculator - Helical Compression

The online Helical (which can be described as round wire) Spring calculator can be a very useful tool when designing and manufacturing compression springs.

Such dimension as the rate can be calculated by inserting the values of the wire size, diameter and the number of coils that are needed to create a particular spring.

The calculator requires all of the known physical dimensions to be entered in order to carry out all the necessary calculations successfully.

There are quite many dimensions to be inserted before the process of calculations can be initiated. These are: the wire diameter, diameters of the outside and inside, the free length, the solid length, total coils number and active coils number.

"Ends" can be chosen by clicking on the dropdown menu on the right hand side.

The number of decimal places to which the calculation are carried out is preset to be 2, but the user is capable of changing it.

Physical Sizes

Enter all known physical dimensions, imperial or metric by suffixing with relevant notation, e.g. 10mm, 0.5cm, 1in, etc. (default is inches)

Rate / Loadings

The Rate can be suffixed with kg/cm, kg/mm, N/cm, N/mm, lb/in (by default)

You may set the number of decimal places in the online calculator. By default there are only two decimal places.
