Body Mass Index Calculator
The Body Mass Index is a calculation of body fat based on weight and height standardized and specific to adult men and women.
The BMI is a convenient calculation that helps you find whether you are obese, overweight, underweight, or healthy in terms of weight. Remember that the BMI is an indicative measure and works on an overall average - if you are well-built and have a large frame, your BMI may be higher than that of others but still be within healthy limits (for example, an athlete will probably have a higher BMI than many others people but still have relatively little body fat). Talk to your doctor or medical care provider if you are concerned about your weight.
A BMI is also useful in evaluating risks for certain diseases and illnesses. The higher your BMI score, the more you are at risk for certain ailments like high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems, and some cancers. If you have a high BMI and worries in regards to your health, please see your doctor.
